A Day of Service
I heard on the news today that Dr. Martin Luther King’s wife wished for the day to be a day of service. There is some irony in the message as I write this post from Starbuck’s. Here’s my day today:
My daughter came home last night with a fever that we’ve been nursing for the last 24 hours. It’s been a night and day of Dad and brother service! Dad runs to the pharmacy for more stuff, brother cleans up the mess when sister wasn’t able to run to the bathroom in time. Her temperature spiked up enough that I called the Doctor, who told me to wait it out. I knew we were in trouble, though, when I went into her room and she was jumping up and down on the mattress, absolutely delirious. We calmed her down and got her back to sleep. Say a prayer – looks to be a long night tonight as well.
At the same time, my DSL decided to take a dump after 4 years of rock-solid connectivity. So I’ve had no fewer than 8 phone calls with AT&T, a visit from 1 ‘line’ technician, and tomorrow I have a ‘DSL’ technician coming. The episode is absolutely ridiculous. I have been checking email by PDA for 2 days and unable to really get anything done. During my daughter’s nap periods I’m going absolutely stir crazy.
Then, to top it off, I’ve had non-stop phone calls from folks who need assistance today. I haven’t been able to really help anyone due to my DSL being down. So I escaped for a few minutes tonight, leaving my son in charge and my daughter asleep, to let you all know I’m serving as best I can and hope to be back online, both physically and technically, in a couple days.
Mrs. King, I know you had something else in mind when you talked about service… but I know you’ll understand that I’m doing the best I can right now. 🙂
One piece of good news today, I’m listed on the Top 150 Power Marketing Blogs that Todd And put together… I’m currently #80!
Thanks, Todd! Nice algorithm and ranking mechanism!
