Marketing Pilgrim means Coopetition

Andy BealAndy’s blog, Marketing Pilgrim, is a must read that I’ve been subscribed to for quite some time. I remember the first time Andy referenced my blog – I was incredibly flattered! Andy is a great example of where I’d like my blog and business to be in a few years.

The amazing thing about blogging is that the personal touch involved always allows for a unique perspective. Each unique perspective, even if they contrast one another, provides the balance of information that you need to make a valued decision. I imagine it like a box of crayons… you need quite a few colors handy if you really want to create an accurate picture. I read Marketing Pilgrim because Andy’s perspective is different from mine and I’m able to learn much from it.

This might seem bizarre to some people. Shouldn’t we be competition? Shouldn’t we be trying to steal readers from one another? Absolutely not! Unlike mainstream media where people throw barbs at each other non-stop, blogs should have your interest at heart, not ours. We recognize that, even if it means tipping the competition, it provides our readers with the information they need to grow. That’s value and it’s transparent, building additional trust and putting readers first.

Bottom line: If you’re subscribing to my blog, you should be subscribing to Andy’s as well!

Note: Coopetition doesn’t come without financial incentive, either. I’m hoping to win the $500 that Andy is putting out there! 🙂

  1. This blog post was inspiring to me because I’m working on developing some new web sites including a blog. I’ve been a little intimidated about getting started because of the competition, but I’ve read several posts including yours that have encouraged me to get started. I think there’s enough room for many competing sites, and I need to concentrate on doing the very best I can for my readers. In this way, my blog will naturally succeed because it is useful and valuable.
