One of the cool things about our partner Meltwater's social media monitoring software is that you can monitor topics and events thoroughly to get a full picture of the sentiment and popularity. This year, they started monitoring the buzz around SXSW on February 26 and found some pretty interesting trends:
- NSA whistleblower, Edward Snowden, was a big deal. 7% of all the social buzz was Snowden related.
- Men posted a lot more to social: 62% versus 38% for women.
- Justin Bieber had 400% more mentions than Grumpy Cat! (Say whaaaa?)
