MC Hammer 2.0 and Personal Branding

If you wanted to research a celebrity who has been able to re-energize their career through social media, my first example would be MC Hammer. Everyone has seen the Behind the Music and rise and fall of MC Hammer as a pop icon.

MC Hammer has effectively utilized social media to re-insert himself into modern culture again. If you’ve been hesitant at listening… don’t. He’s an incredibly friendly, intelligent and humble person – perfect for Social Media.

That said, you can read about his emergence into Social Media in Dan Schawbel’s Personal Branding magazine.

Dan also allowed me to write an article for this edition, so I’m truly grateful and would really appreciate you checking it out. If you’re not sold yet, pick up this month’s sample. Personal branding is an important part of having a social media presence. I take my online persona very seriously… ensuring that it matches me personally as well as remaining a positive influence in social media and blogging.

If you haven’t given much thought to your personal brand, pick up this copy and hopefully my article will get you to take the first steps! If MC Hammer and Douglas Karr aren’t enough, you’ll also find interviews with Kerry Rhodes, safety, The New York Jets; Patrick Lencioni, NY Times bestselling author, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team; Steve Rubel, SVP, Edelman Digital; John Jantsch, blogger, ducttapemarketing.com; and Mitch Joel, author, Six Pixels of Separation.
