I’ll be honest. When Steve Hashman, Director, Marketing & Products at Exponential Solutions at The CUBE, wrote me with an infographic pitch about On Hold Marketing, I think I chuckled out loud and mumbled to myself, Are you kidding me?.

But, like any good marketer, Steve did his homework and put together an infographic that makes the opportunity very, very clear.

  • 70% of business phone callers are put on hold.
  • 60% of those will hang up when there’s no message or music on hold.
  • 30% of those callers never call back!
  • With music and messages on hold, those folks will spend 3 minutes longer waiting for someone to answer!

Sometimes marketers spend so much time on acquisition, they neglect the activity that happens after a prospect connects! In fact, companies spend 94% of their marketing budgets to induce the customer to call… but only 6% is spent on when the call is received.
