A couple weeks ago, I signed up for Trunk.ly. Imagine combining Delicious or Diigo with Twitter… that’s Trunk.ly! Basically, you set up all of your online accounts with Trunk.ly and they find and index every single link that you post. I’m appreciative of anything that saves me a few minutes a day and this is a big time-saver.
When I thought Delicious was going to to close its doors (before they rescinded), I switched all of my bookmarking over to Diigo. The problem, of course, is that I’d have to tag, save and share every link. Trunk.ly takes the bookmarking step out by simply monitoring my posts to LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Quora, Tumblr, Posterous, Instagram, Google Reader, RSS feeds and more!
Two additional features are fantastic… Trunk.ly previews video and images from every link in the corresponding article. Trunk.ly also puts it all in a highly indexed bookmark database. Searching my bookmarks is as simple as typing in “from:douglaskarr” with my search term. Trunk.ly also provides a syndication feed of your links if you wish to publish them elsewhere or have folks subscribe to your links.
If you don’t appreciate all the noise and nonsense on social media, Trunk.ly also allows you to simply follow someone and get the links they share. That cuts out quite a bit of noise with the noisier social folks out there!
