If you’ve ever wanted to create a podcast and bring guests on, you know how difficult it can be. I currently use Zoom to do this since they offer a multi-track option when recording… ensuring that I can edit each person’s track independently. It still requires that I import the audio tracks and mix them within Garageband, though.
Today I was speaking to a colleague Paul Chaney and he shared a new tool with me, Soundtrap. Soundtrap is an online platform for editing, mixing, and collaborating on audio – whether it’s music, storytelling, or any other kind of audio recording.
Soundtrap for Storytellers
Soundtrap is a cloud solution where you can record your podcast, invite guests easily, edit your podcasts, and publish them all without having to download and work externally.

The platform does have a desktop platform that offers some of these additional features.
- Edit your podcast via transcription – The Soundtrap desktop platform has a standard editor but they’ve added automated transcription – an ingenious feature to make it even easier to edit your podcast as you would a text document.
- Invite and record podcast guests – Because collaboration was key when designing Soundtrap, you can easily invite your guests to a recording session simply by sending them a link. Once they’re in, you can assist them with setting up their audio and the recording can begin! They don’t need to sign up to be invited.
- Upload audio and transcriptions to Spotify – This is the only tool that allows you to upload both podcasts and transcripts directly to Spotify, boosting the discoverability of your podcast.
- Add music and sound effects – Create your own jingle and complete your production with sound effects from Freesound.org audio resources.
