VTuber

VTuber is the acronym for Virtual YouTuber.

Virtual YouTuber

A content creator who uses a digital avatar, often animated in 2D or 3D, to engage with their audience on platforms like YouTube, Twitch, or other social media. These avatars are typically designed to represent fictional characters, ranging from human-like figures to fantastical beings, and are brought to life using motion capture technology or face-tracking software.

The term originated in Japan and has since gained global popularity. VTubers create diverse content, including live streams, gaming, singing, storytelling, and interactive Q&A sessions, while often maintaining anonymity behind their digital personas. The phenomenon has evolved into a significant niche in online entertainment, with some VTubers garnering millions of followers and developing dedicated fan communities.
