ADL
ADL is the acronym for Advanced Distributed Learning.

Advanced Distributed Learning
An initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1997 with the goal of developing and promoting standards for eLearning and digital training technologies. The primary focus of ADL is to enhance the delivery, interoperability, and accessibility of educational content across various platforms and environments.
ADL provides research, guidance, and development in distributed learning, which is the delivery of training and education to geographically dispersed individuals or groups. One of its most notable contributions is the development of SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model), a set of standards that ensures eLearning content can be used and tracked seamlessly across different Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Beyond SCORM, ADL is involved in projects related to learning technologies, simulations, mobile learning, and emerging trends like artificial intelligence in education. The initiative aims to drive innovation in learning methodologies and tools, making digital education more effective, accessible, and scalable across various industries, including defense, government, and commercial sectors.
