CEX

CEX is the acronym for Centralized Exchange.

Centralized Exchange

A digital asset trading platform that is operated by a centralized organization, acting as an intermediary between buyers and sellers. Unlike decentralized exchanges (DEXs), which facilitate peer-to-peer transactions using blockchain technology, CEXs manage order books, custody user funds, and provide liquidity for smoother trading. They often require users to complete identity verification (Know Your Customer, or KYC) for regulatory compliance. While CEXs offer user-friendly interfaces, high-speed transactions, and customer support, they also introduce counterparty risk since users rely on the exchange to safeguard their assets.
