RCS
RCS is the acronym for Rich Communication Services.

Rich Communication Services
A communication protocol between mobile telephone carriers and between phone and carrier, aiming to replace SMS messages with a text-message system that is richer, provides phonebook polling (for service discovery), and can transmit in-call multimedia. It is part of the broader IP Multimedia Subsystem.
RCS enables the delivery of communication services beyond voice and SMS, offering capabilities such as MMS, group chat, video calls, and file sharing across all devices on any network. RCS messaging is designed to move mobile networks beyond texting to a richer, more interactive system that includes multimedia content, voice over IP (VOIP), and video calls. Messages support the GSMA’s Universal Profile for interoperability across operator networks and devices.
RCS presents a significant opportunity. It allows for more engaging and interactive communication with customers, supporting richer content like images, videos, and location sharing. This can enhance marketing campaigns, customer service interactions, and overall customer engagement strategies. RCS can provide businesses with a more dynamic and versatile channel for reaching out to customers, potentially increasing engagement rates and improving the effectiveness of marketing and sales efforts.
