VCC

VCC is the acronym for Virtual Credit Card.

Virtual Credit Card

A digital payment solution that serves as a temporary or disposable version of a physical credit card. Issued by banks or fintech platforms, VCCs typically come with a unique 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV code, all of which can be used for online purchases just like a regular credit card. However, unlike physical cards, VCCs often have built-in limitations—such as usage caps, expiration windows, or merchant-specific restrictions—to enhance security and reduce fraud.

VCCs are commonly used for one-time purchases, trial subscriptions, or transactions with unfamiliar vendors. They allow users to shield their real credit card information while maintaining the convenience of card-based payments. In B2B and enterprise settings, VCCs are increasingly used to manage expense control, automate reconciliation, and prevent overspending by assigning unique cards to specific employees, departments, or transactions.

Major payment processors, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, support virtual card issuance through both traditional banks and digital-first providers.
