The Graduate Management Admission Council is the nonprofit that owns and runs the main admissions test for graduate business schools. Schools use the score as one part of an application. The council writes the test and delivers it. It does not admit students.
The test itself is the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The council decides what the test covers and how it is scored. Each school decides what score, if any, it will require.
What the Council Controls
- The exam. Content, scoring, and the rules of a sitting.
- Delivery. Where and how a candidate can take the test.
- Not admission. A school reads the score and makes its own decision.
