IFAC
IFAC is the Acronym for International Federation of Accountants

A global organization representing the accounting profession, dedicated to strengthening the integrity, transparency, and consistency of financial reporting and auditing worldwide. Founded in 1977, IFAC unites over 180 member organizations across more than 130 countries, representing millions of professional accountants in public practice, business, government, and academia.
IFAC’s primary mission is to serve the public interest by developing and promoting high-quality international standards, fostering global collaboration, and supporting the capacity-building of professional accountancy organizations. It plays a key role in the development and oversight of several standard-setting boards, including the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, and the International Accounting Education Standards Board.
Through these boards, IFAC advances global standards for auditing, ethics, public sector accounting, and professional education, ensuring consistency and comparability in financial practices across jurisdictions. The organization also advocates for strong governance, sustainability reporting, and the evolving role of accountants in addressing economic and environmental challenges.
By coordinating international cooperation and promoting adherence to these standards, IFAC helps maintain trust in financial systems and reinforces the profession’s critical role in global economic stability.
