A reporting body identifier is the two-digit code that says which organization allocated a wireless device’s type number. It is the first part of that type number. Manufacturers apply to the organization the code names, and the code lets a network or a regulator see who stood behind the allocation.
The codes are administered through the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA). The association records which body holds which code. The body that holds a code allocates the type numbers under it.
Where the Two Digits Sit
- At the front. They are the first two digits of the type allocation.
- One body, one code. Each reporting body has its own code.
- Then the type. The remaining digits name the model the body allocated.
