XR
XR is the acronym for Extended Reality.

Extended Reality
A broad term that covers all immersive technologies blending the real and virtual worlds. Think of it as a category that includes three main types:
- Virtual Reality (VR): VR creates a completely artificial environment. You’re immersed in a digital world, and often a headset blocks out your view of the real one. Imagine playing a game where you feel like you’re actually inside it.
- Augmented Reality (AR): AR adds digital elements to your surroundings. This is often done through your phone screen or special glasses. Think of games like Pokémon Go, where you see and capture creatures overlaid in the real world through your phone.
- Mixed Reality (MR): MR combines elements of VR and AR. It seamlessly mixes real and virtual worlds so that digital objects can interact with the real world. Imagine seeing a digital object on your table and being able to walk around it or even touch and manipulate it.
XR technologies are being used in many different areas, including:
- Games and Entertainment: Making games and entertainment experiences more immersive.
- Education and Training: Creating interactive simulations for learning.
- Healthcare: Helping with surgery, therapy, and medical training.
- Engineering and Design: Making it possible to view and interact with 3D models.
- Retail and Marketing: Creating interactive shopping experiences.
XR is changing how we use technology and interact with the world, leading to new and exciting possibilities.
