CampaignAlyzer: Keep Every UTM Campaign Tag Consistent

Marketers lose a campaign when each person types a slightly different source, medium, or name. Google Analytics then splits one effort across several rows, and the team cannot tell which link was sent.

CampaignAlyzer is a cloud database for those parameters. It stores the tags a team has already used, checks a new link against that list, and keeps online and offline campaigns in one place.

When a Builder Is Not Enough

A single link does not need a database. The UTM Campaign Builder on Martech Zone checks the destination URL, keeps a query string that is already on it, and appends the UTM parameters: utm_id, utm_campaign, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_term, and utm_content. The target address and utm_source are required. Campaign, medium, term, content, and the campaign id are optional. The finished link can be copied. The builder does not store it.

A shared log is the step that stores them. The campaign spreadsheet is a Google Sheets file. Make a copy of this sheet into your own account. Each row has a campaign date, a destination address, a campaign name, a medium, a source, a term, and a piece of content. Medium, source, and term are dropdowns from the My Mediums, My Sources, and My Terms tabs, so the next row reuses a value the team already allowed. The medium list starts as the standard channels in Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

The campaign URL column trims spaces, forces lowercase, and encodes the parameters. Hidden columns hold each value, and a formula joins them, which makes a broken link easier to find than one long formula. Microsoft Excel for Windows can run that formula offline. Excel for Mac and Excel on the web can error on it, so the copy is meant to stay in Google Sheets.

CampaignAlyzer

CampaignAlyzer is the step when that sheet is no longer enough. Several people share one medium list; only an administrator can change it, and notes stay on the campaign.

What is CampaignAlyzer?

Predefined mediums stop a new spelling from opening a second channel. Earlier campaign names stay on the list, so the next launch reuses the value instead of a near-match.

Notes are visible to the whole team. Anyone can see why a source or piece of content was chosen.

You don’t have to retype large sets. Campaigns prepared in Microsoft Excel or Google Docs import into the same database, and you can export the records as a file.

What the Platform Keeps in Order

CampaignAlyzer groups the controls for that record like this.

  • Auto Lower-Case: Force parameters to lower case so the same word with different capitals does not become two rows.
  • Bulk Campaign Management: Import campaigns that were built in Microsoft Excel or Google Docs.
  • Clean Channel Reports: Reuse earlier values, and keep mediums on a list that only an administrator can edit.
  • Data Export: Download Excel, comma-separated values (CSV), and tab-delimited files.
  • Model Adjusting: The product page describes two uses. One attributes conversions to the most recent campaign, beyond the Google Analytics default. The other applies a first-touch model.
  • Multi-Level Access: Separate administrators, editors, and read-only users.
  • Multiple Analytics-Tool Tracking: Keep the same tags useful when more than one analytics tool is in place.
  • URL Shortener: CampaignAlyzer says it has integrated Google’s URL shortening service so a tagged destination can be shared in a shorter form.
  • User Notes: Leave an internal note on the campaign that the rest of the team can read.

Together, the controls create a shared memory for names, mediums, notes, and files, with role-based access.

How a Team Starts

Put the mediums you actually use on the administrator list before anyone creates a link. Each plan includes a 30-day trial. Basic is $99 a month, billed annually, for 10 users and 100 campaigns. Professional is $499 a month, billed annually, for 50 users and 500 campaigns. Enterprise is quoted for unlimited users and campaigns.
