DV SSL certificates are the most basic type of SSL certificates. They provide a basic level of encryption and only verify the ownership of the domain name. The certificate authority checks if the applicant controls the domain by emailing the domain owner or checking for specific DNS records. DV SSL certificates can be obtained quickly and at a lower cost than other types.
