What is Central Processing Unit?

The brain of a computer. It is the primary component of a computer’s hardware that is responsible for carrying out instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logic, controlling and input/output operations specified by the instructions. It’s often referred to as the processor or microprocessor. A CPU is a small, complex chip made up of millions of transistors. It is the most important part of a computer as it carries out all the instructions of a computer program.
