Awin: Pay Partners Only When They Drive a Sale

Affiliate programs are sold as a simple bargain. You pay when a partner produces a result. The argument starts when the sale comes in. A creator introduces the product, a review site answers the last objection, and a coupon extension claims the click that closed the order. Browsers drop cookies. Apps never fire the pixel. The partner who did the early work is paid nothing.
Recruiting those partners one conversation at a time doesn’t fix the math. A commission that cannot tell a new customer from a returning one spends the budget on the wrong orders. A cross-border program stalls when a publisher won’t accept a foreign currency, or when the first payout fails a bank check.
Awin
Awin is a global partner-marketing network. Advertisers pay a commission when a tracked sale, lead, or click happens, and publishers, creators, and agencies earn that commission for driving it.
The business has worked in this channel since 2000. Axel Springer and United Internet own the group. Commission Factory, part of the same group, runs the Asia-Pacific programs and ShareASale customers moved to Awin after the platform upgrade.
One Place to Recruit, Track, and Pay
Advertisers stop signing a separate contract with every publisher. One Awin account covers the directory, the tracking, the window for approving an order, and the payout. You choose the partner’s commission. Awin adds its own tracking fee on top. Publishers and creators join without a platform fee.
Awin generated $19 billion in revenue for its advertisers and $1.4 billion for its publishers globally in the last financial year.
Awin, About Us
A program can run in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Australia, or Brazil. Asia-Pacific programs are opened on Commission Factory. Each region is a separate program, which keeps currency and partner terms local.
On the Awin network alone, there are over 30,000 active advertisers working with publishers in over 180 countries.

What You Configure
Both sides use the same login. Advertisers set the rules. Publishers pick up links, creatives, and their payment details. The controls below decide who gets paid.
- Attribution Manager: Rules decide which click in a journey gets paid, including cases where a late click shouldn’t erase an earlier partner.
- Auto-Validation: Pending sales are approved after the window you set, unless you decline them. The starter plan allows up to 67 days. Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento can sync cancels and refunds, and Zapier can approve or decline an order by its order reference.
- Ava: The in-platform assistant answers account questions and highlights performance changes.
- Awin Publisher Apps: The free Awin app builds links, shows offers, and tracks earnings on a phone. Download it on the App Store or Google Play.
- Commission Groups: Rates can change by product, category, or whether the customer is new or existing. The starter plan includes up to three groups. Higher plans add a stock-keeping unit (SKU), a coupon code, a publisher, or a date.
- Commission Models: Pay a percentage or a flat fee as Cost Per Action (CPA), a flat fee per lead as Cost Per Lead (CPL), a fee per valid click as Cost Per Click (CPC), or a sale-only rate as Cost Per Sale (CPS). A click fee can sit beside the action or lead rate.
- Communication Center: Chat with publishers inside the platform, and send welcome and follow-up notes when a partner joins, or a campaign needs them.
- Conversion API: Send batches of orders from your own server. This is the authenticated route Awin prefers to a raw postback.
- Convert-a-Link: The publisher tag turns ordinary on-site links into tracked links and can attach the click to a program at the moment of the click.
- Fraud Review: Awin reviews a publisher before the first payment and checks bank details on the 1st and 15th. The network is ISO 27001 certified and listed in the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF).
- Link Builder: Create a deep link in the interface, or generate many at once from an advertiser number and a destination page.
- MasterTag: Advertisers place one sitewide script for first-party signals, voucher codes, and cross-device recognition. Publishers have a separate tag that powers Convert-a-Link.
- Mobile App Tracking: A mobile measurement partner tracks in-app sales. AppsFlyer and Adjust are two of the partners the setup guide names.
- Model Context Protocol: A signed-in connector lets someone ask ChatGPT or Claude about accounts, performance, and program help, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- MyAwin: A Chrome extension builds a tracking link and can join a program while you are on the advertiser’s site.
- Opportunity Marketplace: Search the vetted directory, review the partners the platform suggests, and opt into extra promotional campaigns.
- Payments: Advertisers are invoiced for partner commissions and the tracking fee. Publishers are paid on the 1st and 15th once they clear a threshold. Payoneer handles cross-border payouts, including Australian and Canadian dollars. Publishers in Brazil, Mexico, and Turkey invoice instead of receiving an automatic transfer.
- Product Feeds: Publishers can pull a product file, and basket lines support commission groups down to the product. Shopify refreshes a feed about every four hours.
- Reporting: Standard reports include clicks, transactions, commission, and the shopper’s path. Higher plans add industry benchmarks and custom reports. Ask Awin to append Urchin Tracking Module (UTM) parameters so the same clicks show up in Google Analytics.
- Soft Click: Cookies from browser extensions and other lower-funnel partners do not overwrite the cookie of an influencer or a content partner.
Together, they follow a partner from the first click to a paid commission: who gets credit, which rate applies, whether a return wiped the order, and when the money moves.
The Awin team’s proactive approach and tailored solutions have boosted our affiliate marketing efforts. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to enhance their strategy.

How to Open an Account
Awin offers three advertiser plans: Access, Accelerate, and Advanced. You need a site that sells a product or a service. In the United States, Access is $49 a month after a free first month, plus a 3.5 percent tracking fee of the order value. The minimum term is three months, and cancellation takes 14 days’ notice.
On a $100 sale with a 6 percent partner commission, the partner receives $6, and Awin receives $3.50. Accelerate starts at $99 a month with a 2.5 percent tracking fee. Advanced is priced with the sales team. In the United Kingdom, the same ladder is quoted in pounds and starts at £99 a month, so sign under the rate for the contracting entity.
Those lower-funnel partners generated $2.7 billion for Awin brands in 2025 alone, earning $177 million in commission in the process.

Install tracking with the self-serve wizard or with the Shopify, WooCommerce, or Magento app. Set the commission and the number of days an order may sit pending. Then approve partners from the directory.
Publishers, creators, and influencers can apply with or without a website. Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, and X are accepted, and an email newsletter is enough on its own. After the compliance review, complete the profile, apply to programs, and build links in the interface, with Convert-a-Link, with MyAwin on Chrome, or in the phone app. Add tax information and a bank account. Payouts run on the 1st and 15th once the balance clears its threshold.
There is no publisher platform fee. Payoneer covers cross-border payments, including Australian and Canadian dollars.
