OOH
OOH is the acronym for Out-Of-Home Advertising.
Out-Of-Home Advertising
Refers to advertising experienced on devices or in locations outside of the home. It is also known as digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising, outdoor advertising, outdoor media, or out-of-home media.
OOH advertising encompasses a wide range of advertising formats and media, including:
- Billboards: Large outdoor advertising structures, typically found along highways, main roads, or in high-traffic areas.
- Display ads: Advertisements displayed on screens or digital signage in public spaces, such as shopping malls, airports, or transit stations.
- Posters: Printed advertisements placed in public areas, such as on walls, buses, or in transit shelters.
- Street furniture: Advertising on public infrastructure, such as bus benches, kiosks, or phone booths.
- Transit advertising: Ads placed on or inside buses, trains, taxis, or other forms of public transportation.
- Place-based media: Advertising in specific locations, such as gyms, restaurants, or office buildings.
OOH advertising is designed to reach people when they are out of their homes and engaged in activities that are typically relevant to the advertisement. For example, a billboard for a nearby restaurant may be placed along a highway to attract hungry travelers, or a display ad for a new movie may be shown in a cinema lobby.
A new and growing market within OOH advertising is Audio Out-Of-Home (AOOH). AOOH refers to advertising that is delivered through audio channels in public spaces, such as in-store radio, background music in restaurants or stores, or audio advertisements in elevators or transit systems.
The main advantage of OOH advertising is its ability to reach a large, diverse audience in a cost-effective manner. It can also be used to create brand awareness, drive foot traffic to physical locations, or complement other forms of advertising as part of an integrated marketing campaign. With the rise of digital technologies, DOOH advertising has become increasingly popular, allowing for more dynamic, targeted, and interactive advertising experiences.
